I once heard an interior designer say that every room, no matter how modern, needs a little patina. Something old, a little worn, perhaps with a story behind it. A piece that gives the space some character and makes it feel collected rather than decorated all at once.
That advice stuck with me.
Ever since, I’ve made a habit of browsing antique and vintage shops, looking for pieces to incorporate into the different rooms in my home. I love mixing old and new, particularly when I find something that doesn’t look like it came from the same furniture catalog as everything else.
And some of my favorite home decor finds have come from Perfect Image Antiques & Decor, located just south of downtown Brandon along Route 7.
This is one of those shops where I rarely arrive looking for anything specific but almost always find something that catches my attention.
Between the barn packed with vintage finds and the more curated interior showroom, there’s plenty to explore. And if you love decorating with antiques, I’d give yourself some time to browse.

A Barn Full of Antique Finds at Perfect Image
One of my favorite parts of visiting Perfect Image is exploring the barn.
It’s packed with furniture, decorative accessories and vintage pieces in all sorts of styles. Some items are beautifully preserved, while others have the wear and character that make antique shopping so much fun.
I love the hunt. There’s something satisfying about finding an old wooden stool, a piece of pottery or an interesting architectural detail and imagining where it might fit in your home.
And unlike shopping at a traditional furniture store, you don’t necessarily know what you’re going to find.
I could spend a good amount of time here looking through the different pieces, particularly because the inventory changes as items are sold and new finds arrive.
A More Curated Interior Showroom
While the barn is wonderful for browsing, the interior showroom offers a different shopping experience.
The merchandise is more thoughtfully arranged, with furniture, artwork and home accessories displayed in ways that make it easier to imagine how they might work together.
I love seeing vintage pieces mixed with more contemporary decor. An old wooden table might be paired with beautiful ceramics, while an antique cabinet becomes the backdrop for smaller decorative items.
It’s a reminder that decorating with antiques doesn’t mean your home has to look like a period farmhouse. Some of my favorite rooms combine modern furniture with older pieces that bring a little warmth and history into the space.
And Perfect Image is a great place to find those finishing touches.

Some of My Favorite Home Decor Finds Have Come From Here
I’ve brought home some of my favorite decorative pieces from Perfect Image over the years.
I’m not someone who wants every room in my home to look perfectly coordinated. I like mixing textures, materials and styles, and I think older pieces help make a space feel more personal.
Sometimes I’ll find something I know exactly where to put. Other times, I’ll bring home a piece simply because I love it and figure out where it belongs later.
That approach has worked out pretty well for me, although it probably explains why I have more decorative objects than I technically need.
I also love that shopping secondhand gives older pieces another opportunity to be enjoyed. Beautiful furniture and well-made household items don’t suddenly lose their usefulness because they’re no longer fashionable.
And often, the older pieces are better made than what you can buy new.
Make Perfect Image Part of a Brandon Afternoon
Perfect Image is located along Route 7 just south of Brandon Village, making it an easy stop if you’re traveling between Middlebury and Rutland.
I’d recommend pairing a visit with some time exploring downtown Brandon, which has a wonderful collection of independently owned businesses, historic buildings and restaurants.
Brandon has become one of my favorite small Vermont towns for browsing shops and galleries, particularly when I have a leisurely afternoon to explore.
And if you’re anything like me, you might want to leave a little extra room in your car.
