Travel Like a Local VT (“we”, “us”) publishes travel guides to Vermont at travelikealocalvt.com. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Newsletter signups. Your email address, your first name if you give it, which signup form you used, and the time you confirmed. Signups are double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us through the site, we receive your name, email address and message.
- Technical data. Like every website, our host records IP addresses and browser details in server logs. We also use IP addresses briefly to stop spam signups and repeated failed logins.
- Analytics. We may use tools such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, the Pinterest Tag and the Meta Pixel to understand which guides people read. They use cookies and similar technology and receive data such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location. Where the law requires consent, these tools wait for it.
The site shows posts, reels, stories and profile details from our own Instagram account, @travelikealocalvt on Instagram, using the official Instagram API from Meta. We copy our own posts and their photos and videos onto our website so the pages load quickly. We do not collect information about you from Instagram, and we do not ask visitors to log in with Instagram or Facebook.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter you asked for and to reply to your messages.
- To keep the site secure and working.
- To understand which content is useful and improve it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that run the site for us: Hostinger (web hosting), Brevo (email delivery and the newsletter list), and the analytics providers listed above when they are switched on. Each processes data under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer them. Server and security logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your choices and rights
- Every newsletter email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. See Data deletion.
Children
The site is meant for adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
