The barrel sauna is outside in their private courtyard, complete with cozy chairs for curling up by the fire. Before heading in, change in your own private suite that is perfect for a group of girlfriends hanging out, a couple’s retreat or a solo moment of self care. Bathing suits are recommended as it’s not 100% private. Towels, robes (size S/M and L/XL), water and tea are provided and are lovely touches throughout your stay. Inside the barrel sauna, you can control the heat level if you’re not a sauna pro. At first, it can feel uncomfortable. If you lay on the bench (or even the floor of the sauna!), you will be able to tolerate the heat much more. Bring water in and ensure you are drinking as much as possible to flush out your toxins. Keep putting water on the heating unit for an added burst of heat (and a bit of humidity) and add some provided essential oils for aroma therapy.

Prepare for the sweat to pour out of you and with good health benefits, including better circulation, enhanced collagen production, detoxification, and improve your skin’s health and texture. I have been in many saunas previously, but I have never sweat this much! And never have I felt so good after.

After your 60- or 90-minute session (I recommend 90 so you can go in and out – the cold mountain air is a welcome retreat! or utilize the cold plunge tub), enjoy a charcuterie board from Dedalus Wine just up the Mountain Road (they deliver to Calm!) and some bubbles while visibly glowing.
